This program is designed for persons who process and accept goods presented as general cargo, as classified as function 7.2. The courses for each category cover the Dangerous Goods Regulations in a series of modules in accordance with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations

Purpose
This course prepares individuals to confidently identify, classify, label, document, and manage dangerous goods in air transport — ensuring safety, accuracy, and regulatory compliance at every step of the cargo handling process.

Key Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand what constitutes dangerous goods and the laws governing their transportation by air.

  • Identify prohibited and restricted items, including those subject to State or operator variations.

  • Recognize the nine classes of dangerous goods and interpret IATA IMP codes and the Blue Pages of the DGR manual.

  • Correctly apply labeling, marking, and documentation requirements for shipments.

  • Detect undeclared or hidden dangerous goods and understand the procedures for proper declaration.

  • Follow correct protocols in the event of a dangerous goods incident or emergency.

  • Limitations: Recognizing forbidden and hidden dangerous goods, passenger and crew provisions.

  • Marking & Labelling: Applying correct hazard communication standards.

  • Documentation: Reviewing required shipping documents and air waybill completion.

  • Cargo Acceptance: Identifying hidden or undeclared dangerous goods.

  • Emergency Procedures & Reporting: Handling incidents and reporting accidents in compliance with IATA standards.

Assessment & Certification
Participants must achieve:

  • 80% or higher on theoretical evaluation, and

  • 100% on practical observation assessment.

competency-based evaluation will be conducted within six months of completing the training to ensure retained proficiency.
